NRPA is looking for current Certified Playground Safety Inspectors (CPSIs) to serve on three committees: CPSI Job Analysis Task Force (highest need of help here), CPSI Certification Committee, and CPSI Exam Committee!
The CPSI Certification Committee acts as the oversight body for the implementation of the Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification program. The CPSI Exam Committee oversees the development and maintenance of the national CPSI examination and works in cooperation with the professional testing agency under contract with NRPA. The CPSI Job Task Analysis (JTA) is required every five years and requires the expertise of a committee of individuals with varying degrees of experience to help identify the tasks that are essential to a Certified Playground Safety Inspector.
CPSI Job Analysis Task Force Qualifications:
- Two years, full-time experience in playground safety or related area
- There is NO certification requirement -- you can be a CPSI or not
The CPSI Job Analysis Task Force meets via Zoom to conduct business -- for two 8-hour meetings in January and one 8-hour follow up meeting in June. The Committee Members' commitment ends after the June 2025 Meeting.
CPSI Certification Committee Qualifications:
- Five years, full-time experience in playground safety or related area
- Must have maintained a CPSI certification for a minimum of 3 years (1 certification cycle)
- State affiliate, public and educational members are not required to meet these qualifications
The CPSI Certification Committee meets via Zoom to conduct business -- typically no more than four times per year. Committee Members will hold a seat for 3 years - may be renewed.
CPSI Exam Committee Qualifications:
- Six years, full-time experience in playground safety or related area
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field or no less than 10 years experience in the playground industry
- Must have maintained a CPSI certification for a minimum of 6 years (2 certification cycles)
- State affiliate, public and educational members are not required to meet these qualifications
The CPSI Exam Committee meets via Zoom to conduct business -- typically 8-hours each no more than four times per year. Committee Members will hold a seat for 3 years - may be renewed.
Service on these committees can be submitted for 2 Professional Service Experience (PSE) points each year which is equivalent to 0.2 CEUs.
All committee applicants will be updated regarding their application status by October 31.
