Description:

The CPRP & CPRE Certification Committee acts as the oversight committee for the implementation of the Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) and Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE) certification programs.

Primary responsibilities of the committee include:
  • Provide guidance to the NCB related to the CPRP and CPRE certification programs
  • Develop consistent standards for the CPRP and CPRE certification programs based on the national standards for certification
  • Oversee the analysis of the CPRP and CPRE certification programs
  • Create procedures to assure initial competency of applicants participating in the CPRP and the CPRE program
  • Develop strategies to increase the awareness of the CPRP and CPRE certifications
  • Ensure CPRP and CPRE testing practices meet the national certification standards
  • Promote the certification requirement for jobs in the field

Qualifications:
  • Five years, full-time experience in the Parks and Recreation field
  • Must maintain a current CPRP or CPRE certification
  • Must have maintained a CPRP or CPRE certification for a minimum of 2 years (1 certification cycle)
  • Students are eligible for a one-year term by applying to this separate volunteer opportunity

Commitment:
  • Attend meetings (via Zoom) during the year to conduct business -- typically no more than three
  • Term is three years -- can be renewed
Service on the CPRP & CPRE Certification Committee each year can be submitted for 2 Professional Service Experience (PSE) points which is equivalent to 0.2 CEUs. Please contact Molly Sullivan, Certification Manager at NRPA, with questions at msullivan@nrpa.org

  • A written statement (200 words or less) describing your experience in attending, promoting or developing professional development for park and recreation professionals (e.g. serving on committees, speaking at conferences, etc.)
  • A written statement (200 words or less) describing your experience in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion for the field of parks and recreation
All committee applicants will be updated regarding their application status by July 31.
