Description:

The National Certification Board acts as the oversight body for the administration and supervision of all national certification programs and is dedicated to enhancing and promoting the profession of parks, recreation and leisure services by providing premier certifications in the field. The NCB is made up of representatives from many aspects of the field of recreation and parks.  Board members are elected for a 3-year terms.  Before proceeding with this application, please review the minimum requirements listed below to be sure you are eligible to apply: 

  • NCB member representation includes professionals from the field of parks and recreation, certification program liaisons and citizen representatives.
  • Members should be knowledgeable about of certification processes.
  • All Board members, except the public, student and commercial representative, must hold a professional or occupational certification in the field of parks, recreation and leisure services.   

Typically meets 3 times per year for one hour teleconference call, however other meetings and teleconferences may be called as necessary. Meets in-person at NRPA National Conference (call-in option available).

Each application is evaluated based on a pre-determined set of criteria, and evaluated using a point scale.
