Student Volunteer Opportunities 2024

NRPA is looking for students to serve on a one-year term on the National Certification Board (NCB) and CPRP & CPRE Certification Committee.

The National Certification Board (NCB) governs the NRPA certification programs in accordance with the mission and values of the Association:

• CPRP - Certified Park and Recreation Professional
• CPRE - Certified Park and Recreation Executive
• AFO - Aquatic Facility Operator
• CPSI - Certified Playground Safety Inspector

The CPRP & CPRE Certification Committee acts as the oversight committee for the implementation of the CPRP and CPRE certification programs.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Proving your perspective as a student soon to be entering the field of parks and recreation.
• This one-year student position is a non-voting, advisory member of the National Certification Board.
• Providing an opinion on issues brought to the committee for consideration.

Qualifications:

• Be a full or part-time student studying park and recreation (or related major)
• Eligible students should not be simultaneously employed as a full-time parks and recreation professional.  Part-time employment is acceptable and helpful.
• Certification is NOT required

Commitment:

• Attend meetings (via Zoom) during the year to conduct business -- typically no more than three
• Term is one year

All committee applicants will be updated regarding their application status by October 31.
