Description:

The CPRP & CPRE Certification Committee acts as the oversight committee for the implementation of the Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) and Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE) certification programs. 

 Purposes of the CPRP and CPRE Certification Committee:

  • Provide guidance to the NCB related to the CPRP and CPRE certification programs
  • Develop consistent standards for the CPRP and CPRE certification programs based on the national standards for certification
  • Oversee the analysis of the CPRP and CPRE certification programs
  • Create procedures to assure initial competency of applicants participating in the CPRP and the CPRE program
  • Develop strategies to increase the awareness of the CPRP and CPRE certifications
  • Ensure CPRP and CPRE testing practices meet the national certification standards
  • Promote the certification requirement for jobs in the field

Requirements:

  • Committee members, except the advocate and student, must meet the following eligibility requirements.
    • 5 years, full-time experience in the parks and recreation field
    • Must maintain current CPRP or CPRE certification
    • Must have maintained the CPRP certification for a minimum of 2 years (1 certification cycle)
  • 3-year term (Conclusion Oct. 2023)
  • Typically meets 3 times per year for one hour teleconference call, however other meetings and teleconferences may be called as necessary.
