Description:

Pollinators and Sustainable Initiatives Panel- Building Upon Community Science to advance efforts at the Community Level

NRPA is recruiting volunteers to serve on a 15 month (June 2021 – September 2022) project advisory panel, who will inform and help develop a NRPA resource to help park and recreation agencies build upon community science events, like our Parks for Pollinator BioBlitz, to engage their communities in sustainability initiatives like supporting native and pollinator habitat and build coalitions of advocates to support biodiversity.

The goal of this resource is to create a tool or resources that will advance native habitat and sustainability practices for communities that help to ensure healthy, resilient, and sustainable parks and communities centered in equity. This resource will not only focus on community engagement and coalition building, but also efforts agencies can advance internally to promote these efforts and build support at the municipal level.

• Provide subject-matter expertise, oversight, and feedback, including review and input of strategies and resource (~five hours every month).
• Regularly report any relevant information that you receive at various conferences, training sessions or meetings that could further this research initiative.
• Support dissemination of the resource through magazine articles or blogs, webinar presentations, and/or meetings or calls as needed.
