Description:

The Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Certification Committee Acts as the oversight body for the implementation of the AFO certification program. Committee members provide updates to the National Certification Board (NCB) including policy and procedure changes.  Additional responsibilities include providing judgment on certification appeals, analysis of the AFO certification program, and review of AFO testing practices.

Qualifications   (does not apply to student representatives).
  • At least five years of full-time experience in aquatic facility operation or related area
  • A current AFO certification with NRPA
  • Maintenance of an AFO certification for a minimum of 3 years
  • (Preferred) Bachelors Degree in Parks and Recreation or related field

Commitment
  • Attend 2-3 Committee Meetings (via Zoom) each year
  • Provide input, guidance and expertise on various topics including:
    • AFO policy and procedure changes
    • AFO certification appeals
    • Analysis of the AFO certification program
    • AFO testing practices.
  • Term is three years -- can be renewed
Service on the AFO Certification Committee each year can be submitted for 2 Professional Service Experience (PSE) points which is equivalent to 0.2 CEUs.  Please contact Elizabeth Gonzales, Aquatics Program Manager at NRPA, with questions at egonzales@nrpa.org
