Welcome to the Hunger and Nutrition Group

This community is intended to be a forum for discussion, sharing of knowledge, and posing of questions unique to the needs of park and recreation agencies in addressing hunger and nutrition issues within their community.

Park and recreation agencies serve 560 million healthy meals to low-income children each year. Yet, millions of children (16 million each summer alone) who are eligible to partiicpate in federal nutrition programs do not. Park and recreation agencies are at the forefront in addressing hunger and nutrition needs within their communites by providing summer and before/afterschool meal programs, as well as nutritional education opportunities. This group provides the platform for users to learn from one another how to overcome challenges and relicate success of park and recreation nutrition programs.
