I served in the United States Navy during the early nineties and proudly served as a Desert Storm Veteran. I also spent nine years as a youth football coach and seven years as a high school football coach. Those experiences helped shape my passion for mentoring young people and guiding them to become productive citizens who make a positive impact in their communities.
I have worked in Parks and Recreation with the City of Tampa for over twenty five years. Starting in an entry level parks maintenance role, I advanced through hard work, hands on experience, and a deep commitment to public service. Throughout my career, I have remained dedicated to serving the community and ensuring that park patrons enjoy safe, welcoming, and well maintained public spaces.
My previous assignment was in Parks Improvement and Special Projects, where I managed all East Tampa parks. This portfolio included one major park, Lowry Park, which includes a zoo, two semi major parks, one sports complex, the Jackson Heights NFL YET Center, and eighteen neighborhood parks. Together, these parks covered nearly 700 acres.
My current assignment is in Athletic Projects, where I oversee contractors and major capital improvement initiatives for athletic facilities across the City of Tampa. I am currently helping lead a 25 million dollar project to replace sports lighting at athletic fields throughout the city. I have also collaborated with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tampa Bay Lightning on community projects they have supported in Tampa. In addition, I am overseeing the development of 40 acres in New Tampa’s K Bar Ranch, where a new fire station and park are being added.
Throughout the years, I have managed and supported many special events, including concert series, Haitian Carnival celebrations, cheering competitions, and other community focused programs. I have also played an important role in the design of Alan Wright Park and in improving waterways and shorelines throughout the parks under my supervision.
My vision is to ensure that every park under my care is safe, clean, and fully prepared for public use each day, while continuing to create spaces and opportunities that positively impact the community.
