Bio

Cory Styron is the Community Services Director of Los Alamos County, NM. Los Alamos County located in the Northern Mountains of New Mexico and is known for its role in the Manhattan Project. As the Community Services Director, I lead a diverse team that improves the quality of life in our community through Parks, Recreation, Open Space, Aquatics, Golf, Libraries, Culture and Social Services. I have been fortunate to serve diverse communities is Texas, Florida and New Mexico with outdoor recreation and quality of life improvements

Over my career I have brought a culture of continuous improvement to each organization. I have led two agencies through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) process and spent the last 15 years sharing that knowledge with others and improving the process at the national level.

I find that working with communities to be the best they can be through social, mental, physical, and economic health is very rewarding. These elements provide the “quality of life” intangible that set communities apart from each other. These intangibles build pride and resiliency in our cities, counties, and states.

I am a life -long outdoor enthusiast. Many of my most treasured memories with family and friends have occurred in a natural outdoor setting. I enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking, fishing, and wildlife viewing which I share with others. My wife Madeline and our two furry kids Radar and Zoey recently purchased a 22-foot travel trailer to take advantage of the outstanding natural areas in our region of the country.
